Week 4

Time waits for no man

I've always been a little impatient in my life.

A few factors have contributed to this...

As a child, I was found as a baby surrounded by drug addicts.

I hadn't been fed or changed in 3 days.

So, as I grew up and learned my story of being adopted and born addicted to drugs. I grew impatient...

This was a blessing and a curse.

On one hand, I was driven to change my future and not repeat the mistakes of my family.

On the other, I was willing to do it at all costs.

Then I was told something I will never forget...

It was from a man in a small store in rural Alabama. I don't even remember his name.

I was 15, and I had seen more life than most people do in a full lifetime (that's a story for another day).

He looked at me as I was rushing and trying to get through that store to get home to make dinner and said "Son, time waits for no man".

At first I was like, "who the hell is this guy", but as I thought more on the conversation I realized something...

I am only going to get one life.

Now, I wish I could say I slowed down. But, I didn't.

It made me drive harder.

I worked longer, put relationships aside, and ran myself into the ground over the next 10 years.

It would be the longest and quickest 10 years of my life, but it would set up the greatest story ever.

One that I will tell in my next letter to you all.
